Sciatica Is A Pain In The Buttocks!!
Back pain is second only to the common cold as a cause of lost work time, and is the most common cause of disability in people under 50.
Approximately 40% of the population will suffer from this potentially debilitating back pain at some point in their lives. By definition, sciatica is a medical condition characterized by pain going down the leg from the lower back. This pain is generally caused by the inflammation of the sciatic nerve.
Symptoms of Sciatica
- Nerve Pain that radiates from the lower (lumbar) spine to the buttocks and down the back of the leg.
- Difficulty walking or muscle weakness
- Burning or tingling down the leg
- Lower back pain after standing or sitting for longer periods of time.
Causes of Sciatic Nerve Pain
Herniated disc- This condition occurs when the soft center of a spinal disk pushes through a crack in the tougher exterior casing
Bones spurs- Bone spurs are projections that develop along the edges of bones.
Piriformis syndrome- a condition in which the piriformis muscle, located in the buttock region, spasms and causes buttock pain.
Back injury- can sometimes result in a pinched sciatic nerve.
Conventional Pain Management
When over the counter medicine just isn’t cutting it…
For ongoing sciatica pain sufferers prescription medication is normally the answer. A doctor will almost certainly prescribe or give medication for the pain. Prescription strength NSAID’s (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) are usually the fist option, if this option is found to be ineffective your doctor might prescribe a stronger muscle relaxant. Steroids injected directly into the irritated nerve can also provide you with limited relief.
In cases where you may be experiencing pain from a herniated lumbar disc, a microdiscectomy—a small open surgery using magnification—is the most common surgical approach. In this surgery, only the portion of the herniated disc that is pinching the nerve is removed—the rest of the disc is left intact.
Non Surgical Relief Options
Research has shown that there are a host of short term and long term relief options available. Some options include:
Although it’s easy to assume that activity will worsen your back pain, study shows that low-impact exercises can most times strengthen the area and help prevent future nerve pain.
Inversion Tables are cost effective, convenient, and most importantly they’re not specific to one type of back pain.
Not only can back pain relief be found on the inversion table, but there are potentially significant healthcare cost savings as well. Inversion therapy could help trim down the $80 million dollars that’s spent on back pain management annually.
Inverted decompression has grown beyond what some thought of as a “novel treatment”. It is a viable and legitimate form of back pain therapy through which more and more patients are finding relief.
Take a look at my review on the Teeter EP-560 Ltd. It’s the ONLY FDA-approved inversion table for back pain relief. (This has everything to do with why its my favorite)
How Inversion Tables Work
Designed to use gravity to relieve pressure on the spine. The theory of inversion tables is that hanging upside down or at an angle (where your head is lower than your feet) essentially stretching and decompressing the spine, which typically relieves pressure and pain.
Inversion tables can offer more than back pain relief, The tables can help improve blood circulation, mental clarity, flexibility, posture, sleep quality, headaches, and even aid in digestion.
These additional benefits are awesome, inversion tables provide much more than just back pain relief. You can invest in something that will not only improve your back pain, but also your quality of life.
Why Teeter EP-560 Ltd?
- ONLY FDA cleared inversion table indicated for back pain: sciatica, herniated disc, muscle tension and spinal degenerative disease.
- Top rated in comparison study
- Distinct features- acupressure nodes in various heights for focused relief
- Exceptional comfort and support- Teeter offers more specialized features than any other home use model
- Stability, with a base to height stability ratio 20% greater than similar models
